21.05.04 Mining Engineering


Overview
In the process of training in this specialization, students learn modern methods of performing high-precision surveys of objects and methods of processing data of various kinds. They familiarize themselves with open-pit and underground mining systems, learn techniques to prevent the harmful effects of underground mining on surface and underground facilities and explore safety tools at mining companies, as well as acquire basic skills in three-dimensional modeling of spatial objects and mathematical modeling of processes occurring in rock masses.

Graduates of this specialization work in various positions related to the development of underground and open mines, the construction of underground facilities in large cities and in remote enterprises. The main spheres of employment are surveying services of subsurface use and underground construction, where graduates may hold the positions of a replaceable surveyor, a site surveyor, a master surveyor, a mining foreman, a specialist in design and cartography, etc.
