Socio-cultural foundations of modern extremism and terrorism



The program was developed by teachers of the Department of Sociology and Psychology. Listeners are offered the basics of theoretical knowledge in the field of analysis of sociocultural problems of the manifestation of extremism and terrorism, as special forms of socio-political conflicts.

Students get acquainted with a brief history of the manifestation of extremism and terrorism in Russia and the world. Visiting thematic workshops provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the historical places of St. Petersburg, where there were bright events, including those related to political terrorism. Among the significant ones are actual problems of the world fuel and energy complex, since conflicts, contradictions are clearly manifested in this area and the interests of world politics and other interested parties clash.

Business games and practical exercises will allow students to acquire primary skills in the field of conflict resolution techniques and to form the ability to analyze urgent problems of extremism and terrorism in the modern world.
