Rock mechanics in the development of underground space in megacities
The summer school includes several main disciplines taught in the preparation of a mining engineer in the specialty of underground construction. This multidisciplinary course includes discussion and solution of actual geomechanics problems using numerical modeling and analytical-empirical approaches.
The main attention in this course is given to key issues of geomechanics at the present stage of development of construction and computer technologies, since this scientific discipline allows minimizing geotechnical and economic risks in the implementation of underground construction projects.
The summer school includes the following classes of activities: a lecture, a master-class and a practical lesson.
Also this program includes a visit to the underground construction and profile organizations, where meetings with specialists will be organized to discuss topical issues of geomechanics and underground construction.
Industrial excursions include visits to the construction sites of metro facilities, a visit to the office of the research and design institute of OJSC «Lenmetrogiprotrans», as well as visits to the facilities of the SUE «Vodokanal of St. Petersburg».
Thus, the course of the summer school allows students to demonstrate their competences in the relevant disciplines, provides an opportunity to gain new knowledge, including about the innovative development of geotechnical disciplines, discussion of topical issues of geomechanics.
