The Oil and Gas Faculty at the Mining University was established on September 1, 2009. The faculty includes 3 departments:
- "Development and operation of oil and gas fields".
- "Drilling wells".
- "Transport and storage of oil and gas".
The faculty trains students in 9 bachelors educational programs, 4 specialist educational programs and 7 master's educational programs.
Currently, more than 1800 students study at the faculty.
The faculty has two leading scientific schools:
- "Improved oil recovery".
- "Drilling in difficult conditions".
The main directions of research and development work:
- "Development of efficient and resource-saving technologies for well construction in difficult conditions."
- “Development of efficient and resource-saving technologies for oil production and enhanced oil recovery in fields with hard-to-recover reserves”.
- “Development of resource-saving technologies for pipeline transport of energy carriers and mineral raw materials”.
