Very briefly you should do the following:

  • Choose your educational program. Send a message at ovp@spmi.ru to inform the university.
  • Collect and submit a full set of documents.
A scanned copy of your passport
The original and a certified copy of your educational certificate; transcripts (of secondary education, Bachelor’s degree, Engineer’s degree, Master’s degree) legalized in due course
Fluorography certificate
Medical certificate 
Six photos (3x4 cm)

All documents must be translated into Russian and certified either by the Embassy (Consulate) of the Russian Federation in the country that issued the document on education or a Russian notary. 

  • You may then receive an invitation letter from Mining University and apply for a student visa in your home country.
  • Choose the form of financial arrangements: training on a fee-paying basis, with financial support from your national government, or with financial support from the Russian government. Read more about Russian Government scholarship program.
  • Once you have all the documents set, you can travel to St. Petersburg to take entrance exams (Exams are not required for those supported by their national governments).

If you need a visa to enter the Russian Federation, you must submit your documents no later than April 30. The University will send you an official invitation letter for you to apply for a student visa at the Russian Embassy (Consulate) in your home country.

If you do not need visa to enter the Russian Federation, you should submit your documents to Mining University no later than July 10.

If you are going to apply to the Preparatory Department, you should submit your documents no later than September 30.

  • Sign the contract and pay the tuition fees.

Students are responsible for paying their tuition fees, airplane tickets, housing and living expenses, as well as health insurance.

Fees for the 2025/2026 academic year (in Russian rubles RUR) amount to:

For the preparatory course

For the Basic high education programs

1 600 000 RUR

For postgraduate studies

Accommodation in the student dormitory for international students amounts to approximately 5 500 RUR per month. Students are also expected to pay for their life and health insurance policy the amount of 10 600 RUR each year.

Foreign citizens can apply for a tuition-free 'state-funded spot' in Mining University Basic high education program through the Rossotrudnichestvo Federal Agency as part of a Russian Government scholarship program.
