Overview

In the process of training in this specialization, students study the formation and accumulation of hydrocarbons in the earth’s crust interiors with the aim of scientifically based prediction of the location of oil and gas deposits; the selection of a rational set of methods for their search, exploration, estimation of reserves and the optimal development mode. Specialists of this speciality are in demand in organizations conducting exploration work, and do not experience problems with employment after graduation. In general, more than 90% of all graduates are employed in accordance with their specialty.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of this program take part in expeditionary exploration and research work on oil and gas, monitor field development, perform field geological and geophysical studies, carry out geological substantiation of field development, evaluate resources and reserves of hydrocarbon raw materials. Such specialists are now extremely in demand on the labor market. University graduates with a degree in Oil and Gas Geology work in the geological departments of large oil and gas companies, such as Gazprom, Rosneft, Surgutneftegaz, Lukoil, Tatneft, Rusneft, NOVATEK, as well as in various production and scientific organizations. The graduates hold positions of engineers, researchers, etc.
